Deano Simondis
Director
Deano is the managing Director of Simonidis Steel lawyers. From the commencement of operations in 2001, Deano has expanded the firm to the Gold Coast and more recently to Brisbane’s Northside to cater for a growing clientele.
Practicing Family Law for 26 years, Deano has been Accredited by the Queensland Law Society as a Family Law Specialist due to both his experience and credentials in the field. It is no surprise that the work of Deano and the firm has been recognised by the prestigious Doyle’s Guide, with multiple inclusions across various categories over the years.
On a personal level, clients work closely with Deano and experience a down to earth and charismatic lawyer who is passionate about his field as well as attaining the best result for his clients. Distinct from his competitors, Deano often has a ‘one step ahead approach’ and is praised for his ability to challenge and change what others would view as expected outcomes.
Aimee South
Senior Associate
Aimee was admitted as a lawyer in 2007, and has practised almost exclusively in family law since then.
She has a wealth of experience across all areas of family law including property matters, parenting matters, de facto relationships, and domestic violence. She is adept at dealing with complicating features in matters such as companies/trusts, foreign assets and jurisdictional issues. Her particular areas of interest include advising on complex children’s issues including relocation, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health issues and special needs children.
She also has previous experience in criminal law, corporate insolvency and bankruptcy, and estate litigation in England and Wales.
Aimee works closely with her clients to reduce unnecessary stress associated with the family law process. She believes in the importance of minimising the emotional and financial cost of separation for clients. She focuses on providing realistic, practical and empathetic advice in order to achieve the best outcome for her clients.
Ryan Brenson
Senior Associate
Ryan completed his Bachelor of Laws, graduating with First Class Honours, at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2014. He then went on to complete his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law. While at University, Ryan received numerous academic awards, including being named on the Dean’s List for academic excellence.
Ryan joined Simonidis Steel Lawyers in 2015 and is a much valued member of our firm. Ryan is a committed and dedicated advocate who prides himself on giving realistic and practical advice to his clients from the outset.
While Ryan practices in all aspects of family law, he has a particular interest in spousal maintenance, child support and binding financial agreements.
Michael Logan
Associate
Michael completed his Bachelor of Laws at James Cook University (JCU) in 2018. He then went on to complete his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law.
Michael regularly advocates for his clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and Magistrates Court in relation to all areas of family law including property matters, parenting matters, de facto relationship and domestic violence.
Michael works closely with his clients to reduce the stress and anxiety often associated with family law matters. He focuses on providing practical and empathetic advice in order to achieve the best outcome for his clients. While Michael practices in all aspects of family law, he has a particular interest in complex parenting matters.
Georgia Simonidis
Lawyer
Georgia was admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland on 17 February 2025 and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology.
Georgia’s experience assisting various Senior Judicial Registrars of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in 2024 provided her with much experience and insight into the family law court system, especially in Evatt list matters.
Georgia is a valuable member of our Family Law team.
